Bell Island, Day Two, and Quidi Vidi

Aug 9,2024 Bell Island and Quidi Vidi

Woke to another beautiful day and view

Stopped at this water station to fill up - Matthew thought it was not on but two old local men cam by and told him how to turn it on

Stopped at the Mining Museum - they mine iron ore hear, but there was a large group in front of us and we’ve seen mines, so we went on, but not before getting the geek photo

Hiked down to Grebe’s Nest - I’m amazed at the geometric patterns that these rocks break into

Another tunnel blasted out by fishermen to reach a better beach for landing

The lovely cove the beach opens onto

You can see where the layer with the big light colored rocks is at two different heights in the lower photo, showing that there was a fault line there

Fossils

That we later learned were trilobite tracks

Back to the ferry
Sighted on our crossing

Picturesque Quidi Vidi (pronounced kiddie Vidi)
Cute playhouse

Quidi Vidi Brewery
Made with water from an ice berg
We enjoyed the Celtic music from The Beautiful Ugly Sticks

And found a spot at a trailhead to bed down for the night
