Today was an incedibly full day. We began by wandering around Lunenburg, a charming old town that was one of the first places the British tried to settle NS with Protestants.
St John's Anglican Church
Loved the old, colorful houses
Drove out to the Blue Rocks point (they weren't very blue in the overcast, but they were still beautiful) and made lunch.
Then drove to The Ovens for our 2 pm kayak tour. I was a little concerned earlier because it had been so breezy and choppy but the skies cleared and the area we were going in had gentle swells. I felt confident enough with those. We were the only ones kayaking with our guide Anna and had a great experience kayaking around the rock formations and entering some of the caves.
Finished kayaking and continued driving the coast of St Margaret's Bay.
This is one way to cut down on mowing
Stopped at the memorial to Swissair 111 that crashed into the sea 7 miles from this shore in 1998, killing all 229 people on board.
Traveled on to Peggy's Cove, which was very picturesque.
Door to the lighthouse
They are very serous about this. Even our kayak guide, Anna, said to stay of the black rocks - they are slippery and I've you fall in the surf will pound you against the rocks and the cold will overcome you.
There were several of these safety guys around warning people to get back from various areas. He said every year at least one person dies, often while trying to take a selfie.
I love this journey!!!!
