Today we stopped at the
salt flats, not far from Bonneville. There was more water than when
we've been here in the past, which has always been later in the summer, so there were
no large salt crystal formations to collect this time.
While at the rest area we met a middle-aged woman from Paradise, California who, having lost everything in the fire, was moving to Colorado. Everything she now owned was in her SUV, and it still had room for her 4 large dogs. Feeling grateful for how lucky we have been in life.
Walking through this was so slippery because of the salt on mud! The dark is from leaves that blew into the water and were decomposing.
A Morton Salt factory.
Matthew's crocheting is coming along (it wasn't supposed to be a triangle).
Heading towards Moab.
Our setting for the night - Sand Flats Recreation Area just outside Moab.
