Canyonlands National Park, Utah – June 7

Canyonlands National Park, Utah

The Grand Canyon may get all the glory, but Canyonlands was just as spectacular! It is hard to comprehend how vast this area is. We spent the first part of the day at the northern, Island in the Sky, part.

Cheryl was fascinated with these lentil sized erosions in the sandstone.

Loved seeing all the cacti in bloom.

This unusual feature was an uplift within a crater. They aren't sure what caused it. The uplift was so much greener than what shows in this picture.

Green River overlook.

Arches are not just in Arches National Park!

Then we picked up a few groceries and local beer in town before heading through part of Bears Ears National Monument where we saw Newspaper Rock petroglyphs. Bears Ears National Monument has been reduced by 85% in size by Trump.

And then drove on to the southern portion of Canyonlands NP, the Needles section.

Because we wanted to have enough time at Mesa Verde tomorrow we drove into the night to get to the Walmart in Cortez.
