Today looked like the conditions might be ideal so, after checking with the ranger at the visitor's center, we drove to Meyers Beach to kayak the mainland caves of Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on Lake Superior. Appreciate that there was a ranger there who was checking that everyone going in had the proper equipment before heading out. She confirmed that the conditions were perfect so I felt ok about putting in without a guided group (Matthew was much more confident than I, but he is also a stronger paddler)

What follows are a million (hyperbole much?) photos of the caves. We were in awe the entire time and this rates as one of our very best kayaking experiences.

The worst part of the adventure was then having to carry up our kayaks to the parking lot above
