Labrador City and Down Through Quebec

 Sept 6 and 7, 2024

Woke to a bank of clouds across the valley

Above ground gas tanks

The once mighty falls

Evidence of teh fire that closed down the highway earlier this summer

The brown layer is dust from the open iron mines around Labrador City
Milk sold in bags that perfectly fit into a pitcher that you can also buy
View of the mines

And we reenter Québec
The mining vehicles are huge! This was outside of the closed visitor Centre of Fermont where we cooked lunch

The highway in this part of Quebec is not paved
Ore train
Mine

We went down a very bumpy narrow road near Relais-Gabriel to camp along this crater lake. Unfortunately you can’t see it’s uniqueness unless you are arial.

Woke to a beautiful morning

An anachronism
After all the dirt roads we’ve driven on, including to the Arctic Ocean, our luck finally ran out and a truck threw up a rock that broke the windshield on our last day on on dirt/gravel roads this trip
Hydroelectric dam

Colors are changing

We stopped outside of Ragueneau to look for whales - but saw none
But we did find this oblique

And les dinosaures du quai de Ragueneau, which has no significance except that someone thought they’d bring interest and created them

We parked for the night in Sault-au-Mouton and took a rainy walk to the falls and the shore

And saw more cool rocks

And a beaver dam
And more damn stairs
